The beginning of the Fall Semester!

The Fall Semester has just begun, and the summer heat is slowly fading away to bring a cooler colorful fall season. And I could not be happier since I am super excited to finally have cooler weather!

Coming back from the summer break, most students are refreshed and filled with new excitement to come back to TCU classes, clubs, and activities. TCU’s summer vacation lasts for just under two months every year, from the beginning of July to the end of August and is the biggest holiday of the year! And TCU students usually spend this break relaxing along with camps, mission trips, and service to self, others, and God.

Let’s look at the summer of an international student, Primrose. She is a fourth-year student, and she has shared with her experiences at the Japan Bible Home in Gunma, where she served over the summer.

This past summer had been her third time going to the Bible Home, and she had enjoyed going to Gunma to serve the ministry surrounded by fascinatingly beautiful sceneries for the past two years. This year she could go back again, but this time more intentionally, to serve as an internship looking at the experience from a more academic standpoint.

The Bible Home, located in Gunma is a campsite surrounded by nature, and a beautiful place to get away from the stress of city life. The goal of the Home has been to allow people to enjoy the refreshing mountain atmosphere and feel closer to our Creator.

Prim shared how she was first introduced to the Bible Home, through a past TCU graduate, who now runs the Bible Home. She first joined the Bible Home to serve the ministry during the summer and found it to be a wonderful experience although she went in with no idea of what to expect. She was able to help as a staff with the numerous camps, including camps for children, churches, and missionaries, while also being provided with food and accommodation. The Bible Home also shares in TCU’s motto of “Standing in the Gap” and provides a platform for Christian organizations to fellowship as well as allowing for discipleship.

Prim says that the Bible Home is a wonderful ministry, and I completely agree! It is a beautiful place to spend time in fellowship with God and other Christians, while also enjoying the serene nature and ethereal views. Prim’s favorite part about going to Gunma, was being able to escape the summer heat in Chiba and be surrounded by opportunities to be in touch with nature and commune with God. She also shared that the Bible Home is a great place to go canoeing or paddle-boating, both of which she absolutely enjoyed!

Prim says,

“There are very few places in Japan where Christians can go to simply be Christians and enjoy the presence of other Christians. The Bible Home is one such place”

I would definitely recommend the Bible Home for others to want to get away from their busy lives to spend time with nature and God, while also serving others who are looking to grow a deeper relationship with the Lord.

Thank you, Prim, for sharing your Experience at the Bible Home with us!
