3 Things God Never Did – A Graduate’s Testimony

3 Things God Never Did

A Testimony of God’s Faithfulness
By Chin, class of 2025

“Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.” – Psalm 116:7 (NIV)

The Lord truly has been so good to me. As I reflect on my journey, I’ve come to realize there are three things God has never done in my life—three powerful reminders of His goodness and faithfulness.

  1. God Never Let Me Starve

Growing up, my family didn’t have much. There were times when we didn’t even have enough food to eat—buying a simple loaf of bread was difficult. And yet, God never let us go hungry. Somehow, some way, we were always provided for. We lacked nothing.

Even when I came to study at Tokyo Christian University, there were uncertainties and challenges. But throughout it all, God continued to provide what I needed. I never went without. What amazed me most? My wallet was never completely empty. There was always at least a 100-yen coin. God, in His abundance, sustained me.

  1. God Never Left Me Alone

I’ve often struggled with loneliness—sometimes even in a room full of people. But God met me in that quiet loneliness. He gently encouraged me and gave me the courage to step out of my comfort zone.

One of the greatest gifts God gave me was people who feel like family. My first roommate is just one example of His blessings in my life.

At TCU, I found a community that helped me grow—even through conflicts and challenges. It’s not a perfect place, but it’s a beautiful one. TCU will always have a special place in my heart.

To this day, relationships can still overwhelm me at times. But God has shown me that, deep down, I love people and genuinely care for them. He is the one who taught me how to love.

  1. God Never Made Me Feel Worthless

I can be my own worst critic. I’ve often disliked myself and judged others out of my own insecurity. But during those times, God gently corrected me.

I’ve always known the verseYou are fearfully and wonderfully made.” But I didn’t truly believe it until God showed me my worth in His eyes. He did this not through grand gestures, but through the beauty of everyday life.

Like in spring, when the cherry blossoms bloom across campus—looking like snowflakes gently falling. They always fill me with awe. They remind me that something new is beginning.

Or in autumn, when the crisp air arrives and the trees paint the walkways in warm colors. The birds near the bridge by the station always catch my eye. They live in peace, because God provides for them.

Even the simple joy of watching students laugh and play together in TCU’s inner courtyard fills me with happiness.

All of creation reflects the love and intention of its Creator. And if God made the world with such beauty and purpose, how could I ever believe He created me with anything less?

This list is only a small glimpse of God’s goodness in my life. There have been hard times and painful seasons—but God has always remained faithful.

He never let me starve.
He never left me alone.
He never made me feel worthless.

God is intentional about you and me. He sees us. He cares. And He is worthy of our trust.

“Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.” (Psalm 116:7)
