Rich Sytsma looks back on his mission experience in Japan–eight years as an MK and then thirty-two years with his wife Sandy as missionaries. They served in the Christian Reformed Japan Mission (CRJM) cooperating with the Reformed Church in Japan (RCJ). Rich served as a campus pastor with KGK and as a church planter in Saitama Prefecture and Tokyo. After returning to the US in the year 2000, he served for twelve years as Dean of Students and International Student Advisor at Calvin Theological Seminary (CTS). Several graduate students who studied at CTS during this time now serve on the TCU faculty, including Professors Iwata, Shinohara, Saito and his son David Sytsma. He is currently writing a history of the cooperation in mission between the CRJM and the RCJ and hopes to publish it this year.
