New Cafe at TCU!
Hello everyone!
I am writing this blog in English, but even if it seems difficult, please keep reading. It will be a good challenge!
Now that it is fall and getting cold, it is a good time for hot drinks in the warm indoors. At TCU we have the famous Meadow Grass which Minori Hamaoka introduced in the last blog. But that is not the only cafe available.
Emily Askey, a senior student here at TCU, set up another cafe this Tuesday evening in the Zion dorm lounge.
She calls her cafe, “Kazeno oka Cafe.” In Japanese this is 「風の丘カフェ」. Emily had the idea to create a cafe where students can bring their hobbies, relax, and spend time together as they enjoy hot drinks and sweets.
Tonight’s menu for sweets was chocolate chip cookies and vanilla shortbread bars. Emily and another student baked the sweets themselves. I ate a shortbread bar and it was very tasty!
The atmosphere of “Kazeno oka Cafe” is also appealing. Background music plays while people talk, draw, play games together, or work on assignments. There are flowers on the tables to add to the cafe feel.
When I asked Emily when the next cafe would be, she said it is not decided yet, but in the future if possible she would like to make it weekly.
Kazeno oka Cafe adds another place on campus for students to gather and enjoy time together in the warm indoors when it is cold outside. I hope Kazeno oka Cafe will become a weekly event. If you are at TCU next time it is open, please go and check it out! I recommend Kazeno oka Cafe!
