ご挨拶

TCUは来年、創立30周年を迎えます。2019年秋から2020年秋にかけて「東京基督教大学創立30周年記念事業」を行います。「Stand in the Gap 破れ口にキリストの平和を」をテーマに同窓会と全国の支援会の協力を仰ぎつつ展開します。学生のための大学改革の一環として、寮の生活環境をリフォームし、食堂をくつろぎスペースに、炎暑のチャペルに新技術の冷房設備を設置します。今年のシオン祭をキックオフとして、創立記念日には丸山忠孝先生を迎えます。例年の行事を30周年企画として全国で実施し、来年の創立記念日には下川友也先生と湊晶子先生を迎えます。どうぞご期待ください。
テーマソングの制作、『30周年記念誌』の発行、将来に向けた現在の取組みを「宣言」にまとめる等々を予定しています。「30周年記念募金」（2019年度・2020年度の「明日の世界宣教者育成募金」）を目標1億6500万円で開始しました。皆様のご支援、ご加祷をよろしくお願い申し上げます。

Next year will be the 30th anniversary of TCU’s founding. From the fall of 2019 until the fall of 2020, we will be conducting the “Tokyo Christian University 30th Anniversary Project.” We are relying on our alumni and supporters across the company as we develop this project using our theme “Stand in the Gap: Christ’s Peace in Broken Places.” Part of this plan includes improving the university on behalf of the students by renovating the dorm environment, making the cafeteria into a space for relaxation, and adding air conditioning to our overheated chapel. Zion festival will kick off the festivities followed by Professor Tadataka Maruyama, who will speak at TCU Foundation Day. Throughout our 30th year, we are implementing events across the country, culminating in Dr. Tomoya Shimokawa and Dr. Akiko Minato’s guest appearances during Foundation Day next year. Please look forward to these events with us. We are setting a vision of the future of TCU through projects such as the creation of a theme song and a commemorative 30th anniversary publication. We are beginning our “30th Anniversary Fundraiser” (2019 and 2020 “Fundraiser for the Education of Tomorrow’s World Missionaries”) with the goal of collecting 165,000,000 yen. We ask for your gracious support and prayers in this endeavour.

In the afternoon, there will be a short lecture and the showing of the documentary of TCU Graduate Pastor Youichi Fujiyabu’s work, “The Pastor and the Cliff of Life.”

2020 Foundation Day
Date: November 3rd, 2020 (Tuesday, Holiday)
Sermon: Tomoya Shimokawa, Former President of Tokyo Theological Seminary
Lecturer: Akiko Minato, Famous Tokyo Christian University Professor
Special Worship: LYRE (TCU’s 30th Anniversary Theme Song)

We are taking on the challenge to reform TCU’s campus life to one that supports education! The dormitories and the cafeteria are to be a sanctuary, a place to meet and have deep communion with God and his people; a place where community is nurtured.
